Move over AHA Peels, Chemical Peels and other peeling procedures. A new contender has entered the American Market Place. One microdermabrasion can offer the benefits of an entire series of glycolic acid peels without the downtime or recovery time of more aggressive peels or laser treatments. The process is known as "Microdermabrasion."
Microdermabrasion: A New Science in Skin Care has arrived!
Microdermabrasion is a system that allows a jet of inert, natural, mineral crystals (Corundum Powder) to be brushed onto the surface of the skin where it abrades dry, dead or redundant cell tissue with little trauma, but with high precision which had previously been unattainable with other techniques.
Microdermabrasion is Beneficial For:
- Aging Skin
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Brown spots / pigmentation
- Acne Skin
- Acne scars
- Congested skin
- Enlarged pores
- Blemished Skin
- Devitalized Skin
- Dull Skin
- Thickened skin
- Brown spots / pigmentation

About Microdermabrasion
Deramabrasion itself has been around a long time as a medical, mechanical alternative to deep, chemical peeling for the resurfacing of acne scars, aged lip lines and other fine wrinkles and signs of cutaneous aging. But with mechanical dermabrasion - which necessitated the use of a small rotating wire brush or a diamond fraise rotating at a high speed, there were always the down-sides as a trade off for a resurfaced appearing skin. Traditional dermabrasion offers pain and discomfort, long healing term erythema, giving an "angry" look to the skin, risk of infection and unnatural skin texture (often trading a scar for a scar).
Dermabrasion has fared somewhat better in results on very fine wrinkles and "round - the - month" lines and is an acceptable medical procedure - but a very progressive engineering company in Florence Italy decided to improve upon this method - inventing a unique approach under the category of CONTROLLED MICRODERMABRASION.
- A totally controlled form of micro - dermabrasion.
- It is painless.
- Little or no healing time.
- Basically risk free.
The dead skin cells, along with the crystals is immediately "sucked" or vacuumed back into the sterile glass handpiece which it turns, flows back through soft, plastic tubes to the aspirator - which provides both the force of velocity of the crystals against the skin and the reverse removal of the skin cells by suction. All of this activity is performed in seconds - allowing the therapist to move in precise patterns. The therapist has total control over the velocity force of the crystals and also the suction force which can increase the abrasion to a progressive deeper level (near the periphial capillaries) or decrease the abrasion to affect only the stratum corneum leaving light trails of pinkish stria which vanish in a few minutes.
What to Expect After Treatment
- Skin Peeling
The skin may feel tight as if exposed to the sun or wind for a while after treatment. Some skins may peel. Keep the skin well moisturized with the proper products and sunscreen as advised by your skin care expert.
Slight Redness & Swelling
- Deeper treatment level for more blemished or thicker skins. The skin will appear slightly red and swollen from a few hours to a few days for more sensitive skins. Some skins may peel.

What is a Microderm Peel?
Microderm Peels are micro-dermabrasion treatments that have been used in Europe for years. Now, this exciting procedure is helping men and women in the United States experience remarkable improvements in their skin texture, regardless of skin color. Microderm Peels are a safe, non-surgical, comprehensive approach to skin care.
What results can you expect?
Depending on the area treated, you will notice an improvement in your skin's appearance. Stretch marks and acne scars will be less obvious. Age spots and fine lines are erased and many patients report that their skin seems to be softer, smoother and younger-looking.
What are the benefits of a Microderm Peel?
- Procedure takes less time
- There is less discomfort
- Recovery is quick
- There are no disruptions to normal activities
Who are the best candidates for a Microderm Peel?
The best candidates for Microderm Peels are men and women who are:
- in good health
- have good skin tone
- have realistic expectations
How long do treatments take?
Microderm treatment sessions usually last about 30-45 minutes. However, treatments for stretch marks can take as long as two hours. During your session we focus on your problem areas, but time can be given to other areas of concern.
How many treatments can I have in one week?
Microderm Peel treatments are not aggressive. They are progressive and slow. You may need ten to twelve treatments depending on the area treated. Treatments are spaced one to two weeks to a month apart, giving the treated area time to heal.
What are Microderm Peel treatments like?
With the aid of micro-crystals vacuumed through a delicate hand piece, held at a precise angle to the skin, a technician effects a superficial skin polishing. In as little as one treatment this gentle abrasive technique efficiently produces satisfying results. Microderm Peels enhance skin condition and do what no other available treatment can (without surgery) in combating the signs of aging skin. Most importantly it is safe to use on all skin types and colors.
How soon will I see results?
After your first treatment, your skin will have a fresh pink glow. Improvement continues throughout your treatment program. The number of treatments recommended for maximum results averages about two to twelve.
